Mailgun's AI Now Explains Why a Day of Email Delivery Went Wrong
Mailgun took AI Insights out of beta for every Optimize plan. It writes a plain-language summary for each of the past seven days.

Mailgun took AI Insights out of beta and made it part of every Mailgun Optimize plan, the company said in its Oct. 13 release notes. The feature reads a sender’s Mailgun delivery data and writes a plain-language summary for each of the past seven days.
Each of the past seven days gets its own summary
Mailgun said customers can click into any of the last seven days. Days with delivery issues carry a red dot. Days that went well show what worked in green. The summary for a problem day lists the most likely causes and recommended actions.
Mailgun framed the feature around a gap in raw numbers. Delivery rates, bounces and failure counts show that something changed but not why, the company said.
It is included in every Optimize plan with a free first month on two tiers
AI Insights sits in the Optimize navigation, where existing Optimize customers can turn it on. Mailgun said it is part of every Optimize plan. The first month is free on the Pilot and Starter plans through a 30-day trial. Mailgun senders without Optimize must add it first.
Mailgun is putting fix steps inside its tools
The release follows a Sept. 29 Mailgun release that added an HTML email editor with version history to Mailgun Inspect. Inspect lets senders edit HTML where a check flags it. AI Insights suggests what to try when a day goes badly. Both keep the next step inside the tool that finds the problem.
The take
We think the feature is useful as a first read. Treat it as a lead to check, not a verdict. A summary that names a likely cause is a guess built from the same counts a person could read. If it blames a bounce spike on one mailbox provider, open the numbers behind that claim before changing a sending setup.
The summaries cover only the past seven days. A slow decline over a month will not show up as a red dot. Teams on Optimize should read the daily summary for fast triage and check bounce and complaint rates weekly over a longer span. They should also write down each fix made from an AI recommendation. That record shows later whether it worked.
